It’s literally two weeks until I hand in my thesis. Current word-count: 0.
But productive procrastination is the name of the game. Yesterday I mixed up a bunch of futuristic space sounds with some ancient rhythms and came up with this. Check it one time.
Another month, another slick mix from DJ Rags. Look out for the super-dope Floating Points remix of Bonobo‘s new tune, topical electronica from Four Tet, plus a very welcome bit of Jay Electronica.
And if those opening strings don’t take you back, then you probably mis-spent the year 1999.
Floating Points is a bloke called Sam who’s studying for a PhD in Molecular Genetics, and also makes cinematic electric soul music. Clever geezer, basically. Anyway he’s put out a few records on circular vinyl disc, and a couple more on electronic mp3 tapes. His latest one is called Vacuum Boogie, and it’s fucking excellent. You can listen on his myspazz, and buy it in, like, shops.
FloPo (I just invented that, hope it’s going to catch on) also did this Maida Vale session with a live band for Gilles Peterson a couple of weeks ago. Long story short, it was awesome, and you can download it here. People who steal music definitely go to hell probably, but I reckon it’ll be worth it. Sorry Jesus.
If you were feeling the Brownswood Bubblers or the Bullion business then this should be right up your proverbial. In fact, if you don’t like it then you should probably check yourself. Otherwise you might be in serious danger of wrecking yourself.
