Daily Photo Challenge

Another two-photo bonus today.

We went to a place called Olorgesailie (say that five times fast) which is near lake Magadi and is one of the sites where tools and fossilised remains of early man (Homo Erectus) were found in the 1940’s by Mary Leakey amongst others. The place looks like this :

What you see below is one of the dig sites. The bone in the back is the humerus (upper arm bone) of a modern-day elephant and the one in front is the fossilised humerus of an elephant that existed 962,000 years ago. As you can see, elephants were much bigger back then.
